AkzoNobel is Named Sustainable Ingredients Runner-up at Sustainability Beauty Awards

November 19, 2013

AkzoNobel recently participated in the Sustainable Beauty Conference, an event sponsored by Organic Monitor, a London-based research, consulting and training firm. Over 160 executives representing companies ranging from personal care ingredient producers to finished goods manufacturers participated in the event, which took place in Paris, France.

Michael Koganov, Surface Chemistry Research Director BioMaterials, delivered a presentation titled ‘Sustainable Processing of Plant Actives: Multi-functionality and Safety’. The conference proceedings provided insight into the high level of sophistication required in functional skin care products as well as the competitive landscape in today’s European market.

During the event, Organic Monitor announced the winners in the inaugural edition of the Sustainable Beauty Awards. These awards recognized companies who pushed the boundaries of sustainability in the categories including Green Formulations, Sustainable Packaging, and Sustainable Ingredients.

AkzoNobel’s Recentia® serum was named the runner-up in the category of Sustainable Ingredients, with the top award going to International Flavors and Fragrances. "This Sustainable Ingredient Award for Recentia is complementary to the processing and packaging award received for Zeta Fraction™ Technology at PCHI China earlier this year. These awards are a testament to the unique Zeta Fraction manufacturing process and the Recentia products created through this technology," says Alfred Wong, Business Director Biomaterials.
